This textile showcases a biobased ink developed from discarded avocado seeds and applied through screen printing on organic cotton fabric. It highlights the potential of waste-derived inks within textile design and production.

The colour is extracted from avocado seeds (Persea americana) and combined with biobased binding agents to produce a printable ink with appropriate viscosity, adhesion, and stability for textile use.

Depending on formulation and concentration, the ink produces soft blush to warm earthy pink/red tones. When printed on organic cotton, the pigment interacts naturally with the fiber surface, creating subtle variations and a matte, tactile finish distinct from conventional synthetic inks.

By transforming food waste into a functional colorant, this material contributes to more circular and bio-based textile systems, reducing reliance on synthetic inks while maintaining aesthetic depth and material integrity.
